Principal's Message

As both a former parent and staff member at Meadows Elementary I cannot be prouder of the students, staff and families of our community. Not only is Meadows dedicated to providing a well rounded educational experience for all children, but we are equally dedicated to creating an environment where all feel welcomed and valued.   We believe in supporting the whole child through a multi-tiered support system so students can thrive with attention to academic, mental health and social emotional learning needs. It starts by first addressing the attendance needs and partnering with families to understand the importance of positive school attendance.  We have several events throughout the year that encourage family connections with the school and value the partnerships we have with our families.

Perhaps the most important work we do is in our intentional development of our sense of community.  Through our use of restorative practices, we focus our approach to safety on ensuring every child feels connected and valued in our community. When conflicts occur, we address them without shame or blame, with the goal of problem solving and preventing future conflict.  Part of that comes from our work on focusing on what we control and teaching students to do the same. Instead of being focused on others, we teach students to reflect on the impact of their own words and their own actions with the spirit of continuous improvement and growth. Adults focus on proactive over reactive methods of behavior management.

We believe in giving students an array of experiences that will allow them to be competitive and marketable in their future.  We were one of the first recognized Tech Academies of Innovation as partners with The Tech Interactive which brought professional development to develop our engineering mindsets and approach the world with a problem solving mentality.   We believe in fostering thinkers who will grow to be our future leaders. We also believe that every child has strengths and we need to provide a variety of opportunities for them to demonstrate their talent.  Given this, we also have partnerships focused on physical education, arts and music. In addition, we provide opportunities for students to demonstrate leadership in our Student Council.

Thank you for visiting our website and more importantly for being a part of the Meadows family. Meadows is an inclusive community and we welcome new additions throughout the year.

Magdalena Moore, Principal
